The city of Kazan is the eighth-largest town in Russia and capital of the Republic of Tartarstan with ambitions in becoming a global capital of world sporting events. During the dates 10-13 May 2018 will be also the host city of the 23rd edition of the top-tier WTE event and will welcome the elite of European taekwondo.
Moreover, the athletes that will attend the event will visit several times the Sport Hall Ak Bars since it will be the hosting venue of the WTE European Taekwondo Championships 2018. It is worth pointing out that the 2012 European Qualification Tournament for London Olympic Games was also held at the relevant venue.
The traditional Russian Muslim city has recently hosted also a number of mega sporting events, among others, championships in fencing, judo, aquatics and will also be the host of the FIFA World Cup 2018. Also, several Olympic-standard venues have already been built, setting the city of Kazan as the ideal sports ambassador city of Europe.
